Afsheen was a finalist on Sky Arts, Landscape Artist of the year 2022

  • Compton Verney

Afsheen appeared on series 7 of the programme starting with winning her heat in episode 2. The heat took place at Compton Verney gardens. Her painting was described as a ‘little treasure’. The judges felt it was ‘poetic, with melancholic , dark and very textured clouds. She revelled in the trees. But the yummiest thing was the way the paint was put on.’

  • Forth bridge

The venue for the semi-final was on the north banks of the River Forth at North Queensferry overlooking the Forth Bridge. The judges loved her mark making, mood and colours, with the painting transporting the viewer to the island under the bridge. The painting, which the judges felt kept their interest, got her through to the finals.

  • Levens Hall

The finals took place at Levens Hall - an Elizabethan Manor in Cumbria. The subject was the topiary garden which is over 300 years old. The judges felt the her painting of the garden was extraordinary, giving a sense of mood and place. It gave a sense of the richness and intensity of the space - taking the viewer right in.
